FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is raw hair? Raw hair has no artificial coating, no synthetic or unknown fibers, no steam processing and no dye. All cuticles are intact. It is completely pure, untouched, chemical free, true virgin hair. Bourne Elite Luxury Hair Extensions are 100% authentically raw and sourced from individual donors with natural, unprocessed hair.
What is virgin hair? Virgin hair is defined as hair in its natural state. It is typically unprocessed and all cuticles are intact. Unfortunately, the hair extension industry isn’t regulated; therefore, steamed, chemically coated and other processed hair are also sold under this category.
What does co-wash mean? Co-washing simply means conditioner washing. It is important to co-wash your raw hair extensions to sustain its health, moisture and flawless appearance. We recommend one co-wash per week with a sulfate free conditioner to ensure that your hair gets the nutrients and hydration it needs.
How long will my hair extensions last? Bourne Elite Luxury Hair Extensions can be recycled for a few years with proper care.
Do you carry Malaysian, Brazilian or Peruvian hair? No. Bourne Elite Luxury Hair Extensions only offers natural hair from India, Cambodia, The Philippines, and we’ll offer hair from Russia in the near future.
How many bundles do I need? The length of the hair determines the number of bundles you need. Longer bundles have shorter wefts and shorter bundles have longer wefts.
For full sew-ins with minimal leave out or closure:
10" - 14" requires 2 bundles.
16” - 22", requires 3 bundles.
24" - 32" requires 4 - 5 bundles.
For full sew-ins with a frontal:
10"- 16" requires 2 bundles.
18" - 24" requires 3 bundles.
26" - 32" requires 4 bundles.
A closure or frontal is a great addition to your installation; it is considered a protective style and none of your natural hair is exposed. Please note: you may add more bundles to the recommended quantity if you desire more volume.
How do I measure the length of my hair extensions? Each texture must be measured differently. For straight hair, start measuring from the very top of the weft, make sure the hair lays neatly against the measuring tape, and the accurate length is the measurement at the end of the hair. Wavy and Curly hair extensions must be measured by stretching the hair straight. Start measuring from the very top of the weft, stretch the hair straight from weft to end, hold the hair taut, and the accurate length is the measurement at the end of the hair.
Do you sell wholesale raw hair extensions? Unfortunately, we don’t offer wholesale at this time.
Can I straighten or curl my hair extensions? Sure, your raw hair extensions can be treated like your own natural hair. You're able to use thermal tools to straighten, curl, crimp, dry, etc; however, we suggest safer styling options such as flexi rods, twists, braids, and low heat/air drying methods. Please note: hair extensions do not have the same nutrients as the strands growing from your scalp. Heat damage can cause breakage and dryness. Therefore, it is important for you to use heat protecting products, maintain durability with deep conditioning treatments, and protect it with a satin scarf or bonnet during sleeping hours.
Can I dye my hair extensions? Yes! Bourne Elite Luxury Hair Extensions can be dyed and/or bleached. These chemical processes should be done by a professional hair stylist. This purchase is an investment and improper chemical processes can possibly damage your hair extensions. Although our raw hair extensions can handle bleach or dye very well, be cautious and perform a strand test first. If the hair is over-processed or dyed incorrectly, the cuticle can get damaged and overexposed causing fraying, dryness and breakage. Allow a professional hair stylist to dye or bleach your raw hair extensions for the best results.
Do you offer bundle deals? No.
Do the knots come bleached on my lace frontals or closures? Knots do not come bleached on our lace closures or lace frontals. Knot bleaching is an extra service and requires an $85 fee. We suggest that you purchase frontals/closures that have not been processed, as an altered frontal/closure may limit the level that your knots can be bleached.
